(1978-1998) Almost half of my years were invested in creating fashion for various retail clients and designers, eventually working with world class models including Cindy Crawford, Iman, Janice Dickinson and many other talented and beautiful professional people. Many of these images were shot as what was called “tests,” which were attempts to develop new equipment (lighting and camera) techniques and to create new conceptual ideas for exhibition or portfolio enhancement.
This is a very large portfolio of film and a variety sizes (approximately 11,000 35mm, 2 1/4", 4"x5" & 8"x10" negatives & transparencies) of print fashion in NYC and Chicago studios. I was shooting fashion for clients that were using the images for the back pages of the NY Times or Washington post and this is why I learned to use the larger format Sinar Bron cameras to improve the grain quality. I had a huge 8"x10" enlarger (to accommodate the 8"x10" film) placed in the basement of my Thomas St. studio…the only place it could fit because we had to take out the concrete to gain the height required for me to hand make these large prints.
