(1981-1984) I was only interested in using the camera as a design element rather than reportage...exploring the nuances of the human figure with carefully sculpted lighting. I am shooting mostly fashion at this time and most of the subjects were world class fashion print models who generously gave their efforts to my art visions. These were all accomplished by using (4” x 5”) Polaroid for the original studies in order to design the live performance (about 100 of these are part of our archives). Usually I tried to keep a single strobe as a light source as in the “shoulders piece”, while the subject and I, and generally at least one stylist would search for a perfect form.
