(1987) The professional boxer series (19 subjects) was created in my NYC studio on Thomas St. in Tribeca...primarily b&w (4"x5" - approximately 500 negatives & transparencies) film using the Sinar Bron cameras. My studio manager and I ventured over to Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn and convinced several boxers of that era to individually schedule these sittings with me. Quite an experience and some of my favorite pieces of film. I was interested in sculptural form and lighting as well telling the story of this very rare profession (which we discussed usually during these sittings).
