(1995-1998) A number of my images that were created for Gatorade were appearing in “Sports Illustrated” and we were contacted by the Bulls head office folks and asked to create portraits of each of the players and coaches and, of course, who wouldn’t say yes to photographing Michael Jordan during his last championship years, as well as, the other outstanding players on that team. I was also given an all-access pass to go anywhere and create a story about this historic experience - this compilation became our NY Times best-selling book “Portrait of An Era."
This collection also includes game action from my uncomfortable wooden seat on the floor across from Phil Jackson - there are approximately 2600 negatives & transparencies - (23 portraits, 945 game action & assorted gear/locker b&w and color). All of the portraits were through a Hasselblad camera and the court action was my Canon 35mm camera.* (all copyright belongs to barry elz photography and may not be reproduced without written permission).
